BEST WINE OF SHOW TROPHY AND TWO GOLD MEDALS AT THIS YEAR’S WESTERN AUSTRALIAN BOUTIQUE & SINGLE VINEYARD WINE SHOW

We are delighted to announce that Nikola Estate’s 2022 Regional Chardonnay has been awarded a Trophy for Best Wine of Show, Best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of Show at the WA Boutique and Single Vineyard Wine Show.

Awarded 97 points, this wine impressed the judges with its stunning “purity and concentration of fruit, great balance, line and length with a powerful, lingering finish and excellent use of oak”.

Small parcels of fruit from a plot on the southern outskirts of Margaret River were used to craft this award-winning chardonnay.

With only 130 dozen produced, winemaker Damian Hutton is thrilled with this win for his modern style of chardonnay that has a beautiful natural acidity that weaves effortlessly into a palate of grapefruit, pith and citrus blossom.

“This wine is the perfect holy trilogy of oak, fruit and funk. It is complex with aromas of matchstick, citrus blossom, curry leaf and cedary notes. This effortlessly weaves into a rich palate of grapefruit zest and pith with a wonderful complexity from the lees and oak influences, finishing with saline and oyster shell characters and a persistent acid drive,” he says.

“The cellaring potential for this wine is phenomenal and will develop beautifully over the next 20 years.”

For over 20 years, the WA Boutique and Single Vineyard Wine Show has been used as a platform to showcase local wineries, small producers who crush less than 250-tonnes, and single vineyard wines from across the state.
