When it comes to music tours, West Aussies have copped the short end of the stick for far too long — but not this time.
The iconic Byron Bay Bluesfest has announced it’s coming to Perth for the very first time.
On Saturday, April 1, 2023, the blues and roots event will take over Nikola Estate in the Swan Valley.
Get your dancing shoes ready for a massive day of live music featuring four-time Grammy Award winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Doobie Brothers, much loved American rock band Counting Crows, Australian singer-writer John Butler, multiple ARIA-Award winning R&B-pop artist Jessica Mauboy, globally recognised Michael Franti & Spearhead, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.
More artists are set to be announced soon.
Bluefest executive chairman Peter Noble, who has joined forces with leading Perth-based music promoter Brad Mellen, said the Perth leg of the tour would be a “must-see” annual event.
“I am so excited to be bringing Australia’s leading music festival Bluesfest Byron Bay to Perth,” he said.
“We’ll be bringing a sensational line-up of artists to the banks of the Swan River in the beautiful Swan Valley.
“I see Perth Bluesfest becoming an absolute must-see and do on the annual events calendar.”
Bluesfest in Byron was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022 Easter long weekend event saw Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Xavier Rudd and many more perform to teeming crowds.
